It’s by far the most rewarding part of any designer’s journey, that final moment when you get to see the vision of a project come to life, all the details that make a home truly magical. We have worked on this home since concept stage, when you get involved in a project long enough you know all it’s intricacies, you get to know the home and you can visualise and see just how it should be.
The weather here in sunny Queensland is absolutely perfect, our mornings chilly but the days are crisp and fresh, perfect weather for a picnic, whether it’s on the beach or the mountains all rugged up with cosy blankets with delicious lunch and wine.
We love using greenery in our home Interiors almost as much as we love our blue and white. When I recently purchased my home near the beachside, I knew one thing was for sure, the plentiful abundance of palm leaves in my garden would be my regular source of foliage throughout my home.
It was one of those exciting designer moments when we had creative freedom to design a very special boy’s bedroom last year. Children’s rooms are always so fun to create but this project was extra special. Our young male client knew exactly what he wanted, his love of sport, the colour blue and a place to show his collectibles and love of reading books were important features to him.
For all the years we’ve been selecting colour, I am always amazed by the trickery of the colour white, a neutral or white scheme should be so simple but the fact is, it’s a lot harder than it seems. There is a delicate balance between sterile, boring interiors lacking any imagination, to creating spaces that are textural, interesting, and beautiful to the eye.
The universe works in mysterious ways - well for us anyway. Late last year, we found ourselves questioning whether we needed a Design Studio. Since the beginning we have always had a showroom or studio, we never considered that you could actually build a team and grow, without having a physical space to work from.
The potential to decorate with books is limitless, not only are books interesting and enjoyable to collect and read; they are a sure way to add personality and soul to any home interior. Whilst we traditionally think of styling books on shelves or stacked in curated piles on coffee tables, we thought we would share some clever ways designers style books in their own homes.
We love starting the New Year with a clean slate, literally! That feeling of being super organised and having a clean, organised home and work studio truly makes us feel happier, more on top of things, productive and motivated.
