Home Organisation Tips
Let’s get Organised!
We love starting the New Year with a clean slate, literally!
That feeling of being super organised and having a clean, organised home and work studio truly makes us feel happier, more on top of things, productive and motivated.
As working women, we juggle a multitude of things in our day, aside from running a business, when at home, we are often washing, cleaning, cooking, buying groceries, paying bills, and running errands for our family. I often laugh with a tinge of complaining, just how much we need to do in a day and on top of it, we need to exercise and look after ourselves too, even writing this down, I often wonder how we manage to do it all?
If we could share any bit of advice on how to manage it all, it’s this, outsource help. Do the best you can, it doesn’t have to perfect, stay on top of things and allocate time once a week to organise a cupboard or cook meals in advance, do a daily load of washing and send out the ironing, hire help wherever you can.
We don’t need a trophy that says we do it all, make life that little bit easier and try to stay organised- it makes everything a whole lot more manageable! The best part? Organisation can be fun and can look fabulous too.
Laundry
Over the weekend, while working on a client laundry presentation, I went on the hunt to find some laundry product inspiration and ideas on how we will style the laundry on install day. We loved the idea of finding recycled bottles and labeling them which allowed us to fill the bottles with natural non-toxic cleaning products.
In my pursuit to find the right products, I fell upon the brand Paper and Pear on Etsy, a home organisation label company. Be warned, I literally went on a labeling frenzy!
I then went on the hunt to find a vintage wicker wash basket, storage baskets, and containers. Etsy truly is a haven for one-off finds for home organisation.
VH Tip: When designing a laundry, consider it an important part of the home that can be designed or revamped to be both functional and visually beautiful. After all, why not make not-so-enjoyable tasks more pleasurable. By washing every day, I avoid pile-ups of dirty clothes, keeping on top of things avoids hours wasted in your day or weekend.
The Kitchen
When organising my pantry, I prefer to remove as much packaging as possible and store food in sealed glass jars or plastic containers. We are loving the timber lidded options that are available in most kitchen stores, the labeling is the fun part!
I seem to have an endless collection of chopping boards, cheese boards, and cooking racks that take up too much space in my cupboards, so I love the idea of storing them in a basket in your pantry.
I tackle cleaning out my draws one at a time rather than doing my entire kitchen which can cause serious overwhelm and you can get through it over a few days.
You can find so much inspiration and ideas on Pinterest.
Happy Organising,
